Okay, let’s start our “spying on the gurus” series with a quick look at Jeff Walker’s Product Launch Formula 2.0 launch from earlier this year. This is a great one to look at because Jeff doesn’t really do much promotion on his site on a regular basis.

Wishful Thinking And Sales Funnel Basics

I seem to be having “sales-funnel” and “product-ladder” conversations a lot these days.

There’s a lot of confusion out there, and a lot of wishful thinking that you can just copy someone else’s sales-funnel and product line-up and be successful.

So I just thought I’d point out some fundamental misperceptions about the “marketing funnel” or “product ladder” that seemed to get over looked a lot.

There’s a difference between a funnel or ladder as it’s applied to a specific marketing campaign vs. how it’s applied based on customer behavior.

There’s also a fundamental difference in the economics of paid media vs. joint venture “product launches” that change the way you structure a sales-funnel and approach your product ladders.

Unless you understand this stuff you could end up screwing yourself or your clients by rote imitation of what “gurus” are doing. Read more
